A 24-year-old engineering graduate committed suicide by hanging himself late on Tuesday in Jaipur’s Ashok Nagar neighbourhood, allegedly due to depression, police said.
“We found a suicide note from his room wherein he wrote that he felt useless. He also apologised to his mother and father in the note, and said that he was unable to fulfil the hopes of people,” said Dharmendra Kumar, station house officer at Ashok Nagar police station.
The police official further said that there was a call from a girl on his phone late that night. “We are probing if there was a relationship between the two and if it had a role in driving him to suicide.”
The victim, Chiranjeevi, used to work at a hotel in the city and was depressed as he was not being able to find a good job and nobody should be held responsible for his death, police said quoting the suicide note.
The police were informed about the incident by the landlord of the building where he was staying. The youngster took the extreme step late at night, possibly after 12 pm, police said.
A native of Tamil Nadu’s Viluppuram district, Chiranjeevi used to live with his father in a rented room in Jaipur. But for the last ten months, he was alone as his father had gone back to Tamil Nadu.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and ruled out foul play. The body of the deceased has been kept in a city mortuary and his family members have been informed, police said.
