Sneha Suman from Khagariya in Bihar was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her hostel room at Kota City’s Mahaveer Nagar locality on Monday night. She was preparing for NEET from one of the premier coaching institutes of the city from last year.
Twelve students have committed suicide in Kota this year. Last year at least 20 students had committed suicide allegedly due to mounting academic pressure and related-stress, which forced the district administration to step in and issue guidelines to coaching institutes mushrooming in the city.
Each year thousands of medical and engineering aspirants come to Kota for coaching.
According to the police, Sneha went to her coaching institute on Monday afternoon but did not turn up for dinner at the hostel last night. She was later found hanging in her room.
Circle inspector of Mahaveer Nagar police station Kaluram said: “The reason behind the suicide is not clear as no suicide note was found from the room.”
Meanwhile, the coaching institute, where Sneha was studying, clarified that she was a good student and scored around 70% to 80% in the internal tests.
