A three-year-old girl was crushed to death by a school bus in Udaipur when she went out to answer nature’s call.

The minor, Bhawna, daughter of Ram Lal Gameti of Kali Magri area in Chitrakut Nagar came under the wheels of a bus from Sri Ram School and died on the spot.

The school bus had come to pick up other students from the area and ran over the girl as the driver could not see her on the road. After the accident, the driver fled the scene leaving the bus on the spot, said deputy SP Gopal Singh Bhati.

Bhati added that a team from Sukher police station visited the spot after getting information about the mishap. Station House Officer (SHO) Sukher police station Mangi Lal and his team reached the spot and initiated the investigation after shifting the minor’s body to the mortuary.

Later, the bus was seized and a complaint registered against the accused driver, said Bhati.

The girl’s parents protested against the incident but were later convinced to give their assent for the postmortem. The police assured them that strict action will be taken against the driver.

Later, many BJP workers and politicians, including Dinesh Bhatt, former Mayor Rajni Dangi, reached the mortuary and took stock of the situation.

The school is allegedly owned by a BJP worker.

The minor’s body has been handed over to the family and a hunt for the accused is on, said Bhati.
