A triangular fight is in the offing on the seat after the entry of former union minister Jaswant Singh, who has filed nomination from the seat as an Independent after the denial of ticket by the BJP. Harish Choudhary of Congress and Sonaram Choudhary of BJP are the other two main contestants.

State BJP, focusing on its ‘Mission-25’ in Rajasthan, plans its star campaigner and prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to campaign in those constituencies of the state where the party is facing a tough challenge. Barmer is one such constituency.

The party is facing tough challenge on the seat from none other than its old warhorse and now rebel Jaswant Singh. He is disturbing BJP’s caste based support in the region, with Rajputs and other backward castes throwing weight behind him.

The State BJP is not leaving any stone unturned to win the seat as it has special political significance for chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who had a big say in the distribution of tickets in Rajasthan. There are reports that Raje is taking minute to minute reports from the constituency.

In such a scenario, Narendra Modi’s visit is the last card BJP in banking on heavily. “People are crazy for Narendra Modi. They are eager to see him as PM. After his visit, there will be no doubt in the party’s victory on the seat,” claimed BJP leader Devendra Legha.

Modi will address a public meeting in Pachpadra town on April 12.

The Congress party cadres are now waiting for Rahul’s visit to boost the poll campaign.

Congress district vice president YD Joshi said that Rahul will address a public meeting at Aadharsh stadium in Barmer on April 10.

Congress too has started preparations on mass level for the Rahul’s meeting.
