Students’ union elections in Rajasthan in two phases on August 31 and September 10

Elections in Jodhpur division will be held on September 10, while the rest of Rajasthan will hold the elections on August 31, state higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari said.

Students’ union elections in all 14 universities in Rajasthan and colleges affiliated to them will be held in two phases on August 31 and September 10, state higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari announced on Monday.

Elections in Jodhpur division will be held on September 10, while the rest of the state will hold the elections on August 31, Maheshwari said.

Ballot paper-based elections will be conducted for four posts — president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary — from 8 am to 1 pm.

Maheshwari said elections would be held as per recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee.

Candidates will file their nomination on August 25 and on the same day, the nominations will be checked and objections will be received.

Publishing the valid nomination list, withdrawal of name by candidates and final list of candidates will be published on August 27, the minister said.

Similarly, voter lists of universities and colleges in Jodhpur division will be published on September 1.

Receiving objections on voter lists and final publication of the lists will be published on September 4.

Candidates will file their nomination on September 5 and on the same day, checking will be done and objections will be received.

Publishing valid list of candidates, withdrawal of names and final list of nomination of candidates will be published on September 6.

Vice-chancellors of universities and principals of colleges would be asked to ensure that recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee are not violated at any level, Maheshwari said in a release.
