The move comes after Japanese authorities said the stricken reactors at the Fukushima plant may have started spewing radioactive steam following which the ministry of civil aviation instructed all international airports to screen passengers.
A unit of the national disaster response force was set up at the NSC Bose International airport in Kolkata on Thursday night, officials said.
So far, no passengers have been found to be carriers of the atomic radiation.
