"Buses did not run today in protest against yesterday's vandalism of state buses," Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) state general Secretary Kali Ghose said, adding that this did not mean that CITU facilitated the success of the shutdown, which was called by the Congress in protest against the "brutal attack" allegedly by CPI(M) supporters on its legislators at Mangalkot in Burdwan district.

"The bandh had no impact," he said.

Ghose regretted the inconvenience caused to commuters since buses did not run.
