CPM goons send chilling message
An elderly man in Daspara-Jibantala village under Ranitala PS in Murshidabad was allegedly killed by CPI(M)backed goons as his daughter-in-law didn’t withdraw her candidature as a Congress nominee in the panchayat elections.
An elderly man in Daspara-Jibantala village under Ranitala PS in Murshidabad was allegedly killed by CPI(M) backed goons as his daughter-in-law didn’t withdraw her candidature as a Congress nominee in the panchayat elections.
The man died on Monday night at Lalbagh sub-divisional hospital. The police have arrested one person so far.
Sources said that one Buluara Bibi, a resident of Daspara-Jibantala, is contesting the panchayat election as the Congress candidate for the panchayat samiti seat of Bhagabangola-II. She was pressurised by the CPI(M) to withdraw her candidature. When she refused CPI(M)-backed goons under the leadership of Sahabul Sheikh, Atikul Sheikh and Tafijul Sheikh attacked Buluara’s father-in-law.
The goons beat him up with bricks and lathis. He was taken to Nashipur hospital in a critical state but the doctors referred him to Lalbagh sub-divisional hospital as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to the injury around 11 pm.
