Mocambo, which specialises in continental dishes, and Petercat, famous for mughlai food, including kebabs, will serve regular dishes without any increase in prices.

"Things are very bad. Everything is costly, but we are trying to avoid any price hike during the puja days," Nitin Kothari, who runs both the restaurants, told PTI.

"We target the middle-class and our rates are moderate. We have an elaborate menu throughout the year," he said. Mishra's', a joint at Salt Lake which has been decked up with special lighting for the festivities, has also decided not to increase the prices but will prune its menu.

"We have decided not to increase the food prices but out of 150 items on our menu we will cut it down to 75 to make it more economic," Rajesh Mishra, owner, said.
