    Saying the quiet part loud

He came, he yachted to Navi Mumbai, he played three gigs. But Chris Martin also apologised for colonialism at the Coldplay concert. That’s nice and all, Chris. And since you’ve got all this guilt, how about you lobby for British museums to repatriate the Indian artefacts that they’re still hoarding? Return the Kohinoor, don’t just sing a Hymn For The Weekend.

    Mopping up the blood

Ooh, Paatal Lok 2! So many surprise deaths, so quickly, we’re reeling. It’s safe to say that no one was expecting this Game-of-Thrones level of shock. But we’re not complaining. Screenwriter Sudip Sharma (Kohrra, Udta Punjab, NH10) knows how to deliver. Now, when is season two of Kohrra releasing?

    Beaming back up

Black Mirror, the sci-fi, futuristic, so-real-it-makes-us-uncomfortable Netflix show is prepping for S7. The cast looks fab: Awkwafina, Chris O’Dowd, Emma Corrin, Paul Giamatti, Tracee Ellis Ross and Rashida Jones. One of the six episodes will be a sequel to USS Callister, that Emmy-winning Star Trek-ish one. But will anything ever beat San Junipero?

    Feeling loopy

If you’re one of those rare people who can still read or write in cursive, consider adding it to your resume. It’s now a superpower, according to the US National Archives and Records Administration. They’re looking for volunteers who can read and transcribe old documents. Where do we sign up?

    Opening our minds

Actors from the Apple TV+ show, Severance, popped up in a glass-enclosed office at New York’s Grand Central Station. Director, executive producer and newly minted DILF Ben Stiller was there too. Props to the marketing team. And take lessons, Indian MBAs. When will we see this level of creativity? Think outside the glass box.

    Craning our necks

Last week, a SpaceX rocket exploded just moments after it launched over the Texas sky. The burning debris could be seen as far as the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It all looked like shooting stars. Of course, it went viral. But for anime fans it was déjà vu. It looked like the beautiful, haunting meteor trail from Your Name. So cool!

    Unfiltering

The Insta grid has changed. Social media managers are sobbing because square grids became rectangles, overnight. Insta is doing other stuff too, moving Story highlights to the main grid, and increasing the length of Reels from 90 seconds to three minutes. It’s for the best, people. Scroll with the punches.

    Celebrating freedom

Musician Susmit Sen’s new studio album, Azaadi, is finally out. While it launches on the eve of Republic Day, it’s a tribute to the “peace and inspiration” that Goa has given him. At the venue of Saturday’s concert, the Museum of Goa, there’s also an art installation made with one lakh plastic bottles collected from the streets. We like the sound of that.
