Balmy autumn is back, and so is the city’s indomitable festive spirit. From Durga Puja to the very colourful Ramlila and Dandiya celebrations, there is a lot happening in town. It’s the time to make the most of the myth, magic and marvels of the Capital’s rich cultural heritage — here’s bringing you the best of options to go Ramlila-hopping this year.

Lav Kush Ramlila
One of the grandest Ramlilas in the city, it is known for its ostentatious decor and celebrity presence. It takes place in the Red Fort Grounds every year. The entrance to this Ramlila is a replica of the Red Fort. This time, the food stalls will serve 56 varieties of food and 16 special kinds of kulfi from Old Delhi.
Where: Red Fort Grounds. Timings: 8pm onwards.

Shri Dharmic Leela
This Ramlila, which boasts of being the oldest in the city, began in the year 1924. The performance is kept simple and traditional with artists from Moradabad and Bareily. While it also serves typical Old Delhi food, there is also a special menu for those who are fasting during Navratris.
Where: Subhash Maidan (Parade Ground), opposite Red Fort. Timings: 8pm onwards.

Ashok Vihar Ramlila Phase - I
With a fair-like ambience of giant wheels and food stalls, the Ramlila here is performed on three stages and shows three different scenes simultaneously. It has visual effects with landscapes forming through lighting and illusions.
Where: Ashok Vihar, Phase-1, Adjacent to Major Dhyanchand Stadium.Timings: 9.30pm onwards

Nav Shri Dharmik Lila
In this other Ramlila to take place at the Red Fort Grounds, be prepared to experience magic tricks, right from Sita flying in the air to arrows appearing in the hands of Rama from nowhere. And though gold prices have sky-rocketed, the artists here will wear crowns made of pure gold, weighing one kg each. A special Delhi-6 food court, with vegetarian delicacies, is another highlight.

Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra
In its 57th edition, this Ramlila has its loyal patrons who come every year to witness the arty representation. It has seen as audience legendary politicians such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The performance known for its quality, magnificent costumes, ornaments and dance choreography with special sequences. The group has just returned after participating in a nine-nation International Ramlila Festival.
Where: Kendra Lawn, 1, Copernicus Marg. Timings: 6.30pm onwards
