No pride in ‘non inclusive’ march?

“The date of the parade happens to be right in the middle of our exams, just like last year. I think it’s unfair. Isn’t it supposed to be all-inclusive?” asks Neha, a Delhi University student. Indeed, students in Delhi are unhappy. “I want to know, how the date was decided, really,” fumes another DU student.

But the organising committee thinks it’s unfair to blame them. “Why did the students not attend the meeting held to decide the date? Also, if it were in December, it would clash with HIV/AIDS day, elections and vacations,” reasons Rituparna, member of the organising committee of Delhi queer Pride Parade.

However, there are others who say that they will still try to make it to the parade for a short while. “Though it won’t be easy, but I will at least go for an hour,” says Kaavya Pillai, a student.
