Lok Sabha Elections 2019: JVM(P) petitions to keep out 3 officials from election duty
A party representation met state chief electoral officer L. Khiangte and submitted a written memorandum, requesting action against the three officers, in order to ‘ensure a free and fair’ election.
The Babulal Marandi-led Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) on Tuesday requested the election commission to keep three top bureaucrats including the chief secretary and director general police from election duty.
A party representation met state chief electoral officer L. Khiangte and submitted a written memorandum, requesting action against the three officers, in order to ‘ensure a free and fair’ election.
In the memorandum, the party alleged that while chief secretary Sudhir Tripathi has been ‘obliged’ by the state government by giving extension in his tenure twice, DGP Dk Pandey and ADG (special branch) Anurag Gupta are facing serious allegations.
“DGP Pandey is under cloud of suspicion in the Bakoria fake encounter in Palamu in which 12 persons were killed. The HC court has ordered CBI inquiry in it. The state government even went to the Supreme Court against the CBI inquiry but failed. Similarly, the election commission had directed filing of FIR against ADG Gupta for threatening a voter (MLA) in Rajya Sabha election, but the officer continues to hold his seat. The state government also appealed the election commission to review its order,” the memorandum said.
“Therefore, you are requested that to ensure a free and fair poll two police officers facing grave charges and chief secretary who is on extension are kept away from election work. It will bring transparency in the poll process and remove even iota of doubt in the minds of the political parties and the voters,” the memorandum added.
