Apart from addressing the poll rally, Congress president is expected to visit families of security personnel killed in Kashmir last month during his Dehradun visit on March 16 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.“After addressing a mass rally, he has plans to visit the families of martyrs, Major Chitresh Bisht, Major VS Dhoundiyal and CRPF assistant sub-inspector Mohanlal Raturi, who were martyred in Kashmir last month. Cong seals alliance with Apna Dal, gives 2 Lok Sabha seats in UP
The Congress on Saturday finalised the seat-sharing agreement with the Apna Dal led by Krishna Patel and allocated it two Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
The Apna Dal will contest from two parliamentary constituencies -- Pilibhit and Gonda, the Congress announced.
Pankaj Niranjan Singh Chandel, the son-in-law of Patel, joined the Congress in the presence of party president Rahul Gandhi and general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia. Patel was also present there.

EC fixes timeline for release of manifesto by political parties
The Election Commission of India has fixed the outer limit for release of manifesto during elections
In case of single phase election, manifesto shall not be released during the prohibitory period, as prescribed under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
In case of multi-phase elections, manifesto shall not be released during the prohibitory periods, as prescribed under Section L26 of rhe Representation of the People Act, 1951, ofall the phases of those elections.
Manifesto cannot be released 48 hours before each phase in a multi phase election.

Cong discusses poll preparedness in J-K
The state election management committee of the Congress held its meeting here on Saturday and discussed the preparedness of the party in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, a party spokesman said.
Leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha and chairman of the committee Ghulam Nabi Azad chaired the two-and-a-half-hour-long meeting at his official residence, chief spokesperson of the state Congress Ravinder Sharma said.

With Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar ailing, the Goa Congress has written to Governor Mridula Sinha asking her to dismiss the BJP-led coalition regime and invite the party to form the government in the state. The Congress said, “the numbers of the BJP may further dwindle” in the Goa Assembly.
In a letter addressed to the Governor, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar has pointed out that the “incumbent BJP led state government under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar, which has long lost the trust of the people, has also lost the strength of the house.”

Apna Dal finalises deal with BJP, to contest on two UP seats
Apna Dal, a BJP ally in Uttar Pradesh which was upset with the party for some time and had been threatening to quit the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), will now contest on two seats in the state in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The announcement was made by BJP president Amit Shah after meeting Apna Dal leader and union minister Anupriya Patel.
Anupriya, the sitting MP from Mirzapur, will contest from Mirzapur only. The second seat from which the Apna Dal will contest will be decided in consultation with the BJP.
The BJP may offer Phulpur to Apna Dal. The Phulpur constituency which is dominated by Kurmis, an OBC sub-caste, was vacated by Keshav Prasad Maurya in 2017 after he took over as deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
