“We believe that there is undercurrent against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is what the increased percentage of polling is also indicating,” said Ashok Gehlot .Updated: May 02, 2019, 12:49 IST
Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Ashok Gehlot said Modi will not become the PM as there is an “undercurrent against him” in the country.
“We believe that there is undercurrent against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is what the increased percentage of polling is also indicating,” he said. Like during former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee time, a “feel good and “India shinning” atmosphere was created, similarly Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah too are not leaving anything unturned to create the atmosphere, he said, adding, people are intelligent and they have seen the way they made catchphrases for five years, false promises of black money, employment and reducing inflation.
Addressing newspersons at state Congress office, he said, “I have an objection that in Jodhpur, Modi attacked the chief minister of Rajasthan and said that I am speaking the language of Pakistan. He has no right to make such serious allegation against a chief minister. If PM Modi is elected, then the CM of Rajasthan is also an elected candidate.” “The post of prime mindirectorate ister has sanctity. When a prime minister speaks, his words should touch the hearts of the country, but Modi lacks this,” Gehlot claimed, adding, “Their jumla (rhetoric) that the Congress did nothing in 70 years will make them sink.” The Congress leader claimed that the condition of the country’s institutions is very alarming and the Constitution itself is “under threat”. “Someone sent me a message, ‘Machchhar ko kapde pehnana, hathi ko goad mein jhulana aur Modi ji se sach bulwana, yeh asambhav hai’ (dressing up a mosquito, making an elephant sit in lap and making Modi speak truth is impossible). This is the situation.”
“The situation of Supreme Court has reached to such a turn which is very dangerous and what is happening in the Supreme Court today, we used to hear such things about Pakistan judiciary. What is the situation in the country? All the institutions have damaged but no one is speaking. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) could not present the account of demonetisation for two years. Where we are leading?” he said.
“Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was raided by police. This happened first time when police raided CBI director’s office. The CBI, Enforcement (ED), income tax department, all are being misused,” he said.
The CM also said the media is under pressure. “I urge media owners and editors to show truth. Modi will not last long. A government comes and goes. But when the country is in danger, the responsibility of the fourth pillar is no less important.”
He said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) this time is taking more interest as they have got the “taste of power”. He said RSS workers are “appointed as governors and chairpersons of many institutes, so they are enjoying the power”. Both the RSS and BJP have no faith in democracy. They just wear mask of democracy and do politics. The country is moving towards dictatorship They are not worried if democracy is in danger as RSS and BJP have no faith on democracy. These people are fascist and want to govern wearing mask of democracy.
Hitting back at the Congress, BJP spokesperson Mukesh Pareek later said: “People have lost faith in Congress. Every day, they are speaking a new lie. Congress’s identity has become a lie. Across the country, people are voting for good governance and this will be clear once the results are out. Gehlot will then understand.”
