To make the city cleaner and help people find public restrooms easily, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has put the information of around 300 public toilets in the city on the Google Maps toilet locator.

Additional municipal commissioner PK Srivastava said, “Google Maps will provide information of all its 73 toilets along with 52 toilets of petrol pumps and over 170 toilets operated by NGO’s in the state capital. These toilets can be located not just through the app on the mobile phones, but on the desktops as well.”

The municipal corporation has directed all the petrol pumps to make their toilets available for the common man. If any petrol pump is found overlooking the order, strict action will be taken against it.

Also, a team of LMC, along with the district administration, will soon inspect the availability of toilets at the petrol pumps and if the toilets are found to be defunct, the petrol pump will face action.

Besides, the LMC was also constructing around 200 more toilets in the areas where people were still defecating in open, said Srivastava.
