Reacting sharply to the spree of investigations initiated by the Yogi Adityanath government into projects and schemes done by the previous regime led by Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has called the BJP dispensation a “probe committee” and accused it of “engaging in politics of vendetta”.

“Looks like the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has become a probe committee. The government is engaging in politics of vendetta,” Rajendra Chaudhary, party’s chief spokesperson, said on Thursday.

The Adityanath government has ordered investigations into irregularities in several projects and schemes undertaken by the previous Akhilesh Yadav-led regime.

“To smokescreen its failure in delivering on the promises it made to the people, the BJP government has engaged in discrediting the previous government,” he said.

Chaudhary noted that the new government was set to complete 100 days soon, but had nothing to show to the people.

GST (a new tax regime) has terrorised traders. Instead of creating jobs for youth, the government has used force on peacefully protesting students. Farmers are going through financial crisis waiting for loan waiver. Women are living in fear, he said.

Quoting Akhilesh, the SP spokesperson said the BJP should have launched some schemes that were bigger than its predecessor.

Instead of initiating any now projects and schemes, the new government was showcasing Akhilesh Yadav government’s works as its after changing their names, he said.
