If sorry can mend broken relationships, don’t you think it’s worth a try? ‘Ek chota sa word hai, thodi himmat karo aur bol daalo’ (It’s a small word, gather a little courage and say it), is the opening line of a new ad by a detergent company.
Released to celebrate the holy festival of Eid, the video takes us through a couple’s conversation while they prepare the traditional dinner.
The ad sees a wife telling her husband to bury the hatchet, let go of past grudges and make a new beginning. The husband then calls up his friends, acquaintances, former colleagues and bosses, and apologises for past mistakes and misunderstandings.
With an aim to bring together people of different faiths and social strata, the video has garnered 9 million views in just 10 days.
This is not the first instance of brands capitalising on festivals. Last year, Surf Excel released an ad celebrating Ramzan that garnered 3 million views on YouTube.
