At least these guys are honest. They declared it right at the outset, with the title itself: Fool N Final. Choreographer-filmmaker Ahmed Khan’s second directorial feature, by every yardstick, sets the final bar for foolish cinema in Bollywood.
Don’t ask questions, don’t look for logic, don’t think — if you are a hardcore masala buff, you’ve been brainfed those golden rules forever. Yet, watching Fool N Final that’s exactly what you’ll do, even if you dig the Filmy Tamasha.
Chalo Dubai, then, for some instant kicks. Why Dubai? It’s the final address for all foolish filmy dons, that’s why. And if it’s all got to do with a stolen diamond, the dons can’t be far way, right?
So, it all starts off with a definitely irritating Chunkey Pandey (with a definitely more irritating sneer) stealing India’s biggest diamond (looks more like a blue plastic paperweight from
kabaadi bazaar) as the opening credits roll.
Bambai ka chor Chunkey fixes a tryst with London
ka don Gulshan Grover in Dubai, and lands right in the middle of a bunch of other dumb dons (Arbaaz Khan, Zakir Hussain, Jackie Shroff), dumb dudes (Shahid Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Viveik Oberoi), dumb dolts (Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever) and a dumb belle (Ayesha Takia).
Between dumb belle and dumb dude 1 (Shahid), there’s some
naach gaana. It gives Himesh Reshammiya a chance to exercise his nose. Dumb dude 2 (Deol) meanwhile, sticks to doing what he does best — bashing everyone up. Dumb dude 3 (Viveik) does nothing — he’s special appearance, you see.
As the end credits rolled, you realise who the biggest fool in all this is: anyone who pays for the ticket, what else. You missed the real portent in the title ‘Fool N Final
’ after all.
