15-year-old boy drowns in Navi Mumbai pond
Police say Ganesh Pankaj Satave, a Class 9 student, had gone for a swim alone
A 15-year-old boy drowned in a pond in Ulwe on Friday afternoon. The police said the Class 9 student had gone to the pond alone for a swim.

The police said Ganesh Pankaj Satave lived with his family in Ulwe, Sector 3. Around 1.30pm, he went to swim in a pond at Morabe village near his residence. “The boy was alone and none of his friends was with him. So no one spotted him getting into the water. It is also not clear how long he was swimming there,” said a police officer from NRI police station. “After a few hours a few local residents spotted a body floating in the water. They raised an alarm and also informed us. We took out the body with the help of local residents,” he said.
The body was sent for post-mortem and then delivered to his family. The police have registered an accidental death case.
Another senior police officer said, “We are also exploring other possible angles in the case. We have not ruled out the suicide angle too.”
