According to Rajiv Jain, deputy commissioner of police (zone V), the workers had asked for police permission to protest against the government for their failure to evict illegal hawkers outside railways stations. Although they were denied permission, a protest was organised outside Suvidha mall and Nakshatra mall in Dadar.

“We have detained about 40 people from MNS for gathering in one place to protest without permission,” said Jain.
