CM looks into differently abled doctor’s transfer plea

Vaidya is wheelchair-bound and a single mother.

In response to a petition by a differently-abled government doctor, Alakhnanda Vaidya, on change.org, in which she sought a transfer to Pune, her hometown, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday tweeted that his government would do the needful immediately.

Vaidya is wheelchair-bound and a single mother.

In her petition, she said that an accident six years back had left her paralysed below the waist. She had applied for a government job last year, but was posted 100km away in Baramati. She requested the CM to intervene and get her posted in her hometown as government rules say that a physically challenged person is not to be posted 10kms further from home.

Fadnavis, in his tweet, said that the director of health services would get in touch with her and the transfer would be effected immediately. He also apologised for the inconvenience caused to her .

Fadnavis has been directly interacting with the citizens on social media, especially Twitter, often addressing complaints ranging from rash driving by government bus drivers to corruption charges against his officials.
