Protests by Congress party workers began in Kalina on Monday.

Party officials said the protests, called ‘Jan Akrosh’ morcha, were against the Centre’s decision to demonetise high-denomination currencies, which was taken on November 8.

Senior state party leaders such as Ashok Chavan and Mumbai president Sanjay Nirupam were part of the protests.
