Drunk Mumbai man rapes six-year-old neighbour, held the next day
The man took the girl to a secluded area in Sahar and raped her, said police
Police arrested a 32-year-old man on Tuesday for allegedly raping his neighbour — a six-year-old girl — in Sahar, Andheri (East). The man was produced before a sessions court and remanded in police custody till May 4.

Police said the incident took place at a local chawl around 8 pm on Monday. “The man was drunk. He took the girl to a secluded area nearby and raped her. She told her mother about the incident and they went to the Sahar police station the next day,” said an officer.
The girl’s statement was recorded and an FIR under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 8 (sexual assault with punishment not less than three years may go up to five years, and fine) and 12 (sexual harassment of a child with punishment of three years and fine) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered.
Police have sent the girl and the accused for medical tests. They are trying to ascertain if the man sexually assaulted other minor girls in the neighbourhood or if he was booked in connection with any cases of sexual offences in Mumbai.
