Heavy rain slows down traffic in Mumbai, plan your evening commute better

Mumbai city news: Slow moving traffic was reported on the Western Express Highway, Eastern Express Highway, LBS Road, and Santacruz Chembur Link Road due to rains.

Several motorists reported low visibility on the roads in Mumbai due to heavy rains on Friday morning. However, there were no accidents were reported, officials at the Mumbai traffic police said.

The complaints of low visibility poured in from areas in Powai, Santacruz and the Eastern Freeway.

Meanwhile, slow moving traffic was reported on the Western Express Highway (WEH), Eastern Express Highway (EEH), LBS Road, Santacruz Chembur Link Road due to rains.

The traffic movement was very slow during the morning peak hours for motorists on the southbound stretch of the WEH between Borivli and Vakola, traffic police said.

Motorists also complained of heavy traffic near the toll booth on the EEH in the morning hours.

SV Road was less congested, as per traffic officials. Waterlogging was reported at the Malad subway and in Juhu, further affecting the traffic situation around the area.

“The morning commute for motorists was incident-free as no untoward incident was reported during the morning peak hour,” said a traffic police official at the Mumbai traffic police headquarters.
