Taking note of an email from Mikhail Bora, brother of Sheena Bora, the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) has approached a special CBI court seeking police protection for him. Mikhail is the son of Indrani Mukerjea, who is in jail in connection with Sheena’s murder.
Mikhail wrote to the CBI on May 17 that there may be a threat to his life as he suspects his neighbour –Hrishikesh Burgohain, who is an administrator of the will signed by Indrani’s mother Durgaranee Bora – is in touch with his mother, Indrani. He claimed Burgohain had been mentally harassing him.
The investigating officer of the Sheena Bora murder case, KK Singh, on Wednesday submitted to the special court a one-page application along with a copy of the mail sent by Mikhail. Singh claimed he saw the mail only on May 30.
“Burgohain stays near me, as my neighbour. I am scared for my life. Sir, I stay all alone in this house with no one to help. I really fear for my life and find this person suspicious and associated with Indrani Mukerjea,” reads the mail. He claimed that at the centre of his apprehension is the case filed by him for probate of the will left behind by Durgaranee.
Durgaranee died in October 2015. Before her death, Durgaranee had prepared a will dated April 30, 2012. “After my death, my husband Upendra Bora will be the sole owner of my property and after his, my granddaughter Sheena Bora and grandson Mikhail Bora shall be entitled to all my movable and immovable assets and estates,” states the will.
“As informed to you sir, I have filed a case to grant probate of the will made by my grandmother the late Durga Ranee Bora, but since 2016 the case is still in progress. The executor of the will Mr Hrishikesh Burgohain informed me that he is in touch with Indrani Mukerjea’s lawyer. I really feel suspicious and scared,” Mikhail wrote in his mail to CBI.
He claimed he had informed the respective court in Guwahati on January 2018 that he doesn’t want to proceed with the case as Burgohain is in touch with Indrani’s lawyer. The special court is yet to decide on CBI’s plea.
