Kirti Vyas murder: Accused couple exchanged 110 calls to cover their tracks, say cops

After the verdict, one of the accused created a ruckus in court , claiming she had been tortured by police

The alleged killers of 28-year-old chartered accountant Kirti Vyas had exchanged 110 phone calls within two days of her murder to cover their tracks.

Khushi Sejwani, 42, and Siddhesh Tamhankar, 28, who were produced before the Esplanade Court have been remanded to police custody till May 17. According to the public prosecutor, police officers said that they needed the custody of the couple to trace Vyas’ body.

On examining call data records of the accused, police found that on March 16, after killing Vyas, they had exchanged 50 phone calls while they were in the same office premises to plan the disposal of the body lying in Sejwani’s car.

On March 17, when Tamhankar went to Vyas’ house, the couple exchanged 60 phone calls to cover their tracks, police said

Meanwhile, crime branch officers have asked the family to wait for one more week to perform last rites. “We are searching the mangroves and will continue our search for a more few days, till all our options have exhausted,” said a crime branch officer.

Last week, five boats of local fishermen were deployed to search for Vyas’ body. Police had also called for high-end drones.
