Additional sessions judge HC Shende also ordered the convict, Farooq Shaikh, to pay 9,000 as fine, which would be given to the survivor apart from a compensation of 30,000 under the Manodhairya scheme.

According to the prosecution, Shaikh, a Malad resident, kidnapped the woman, took her to the fair and then raped her in the nearby bushes. He was caught soon after and handed over to the Dindoshi police.
