Man gets 10 years for raping 21-yr-old

The sessions court on Thursday sentenced a 31-year-old courier delivery personnel to 10 years in jail for kidnapping and raping a 21-year-old mentally challenged woman on the pretext of taking her to a fair in 2016.
Additional sessions judge HC Shende also ordered the convict, Farooq Shaikh, to pay ₹9,000 as fine, which would be given to the survivor apart from a compensation of ₹30,000 under the Manodhairya scheme.
According to the prosecution, Shaikh, a Malad resident, kidnapped the woman, took her to the fair and then raped her in the nearby bushes. He was caught soon after and handed over to the Dindoshi police.
