Man gets life for raping minor nieces for 2 years
The culprit also made his 14-year-old niece undergo abortion
A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to life for raping his two minor nieces for around two years in Vasai. He also impregnated one of the rape survivors and made her undergo an abortion.

The man was sentenced to life imprisonment by NG Pradhan, special judge, Vasai court, on Friday. The culprit, a vada pav vendor, was having an extramarital affair with his brother’s wife and the mother of the two rape survivors at their native place in Uttar Pradesh.
The culprit began an affair with the woman taking advantage of the fact that her husband was ill, said Kadambini Khandangale, assistant public prosecutor, Vasai. In 2012, he brought the mother and her four children, including three daughters, to his Vasai home and continued the affair with the mother. In the meantime, the man also raped two of his nieces, aged 17 and 14 respectively, when the woman was away working as a housemaid, said Khandangale.
After being raped repeatedly, the 14-year-old minor got pregnant. The culprit took her to his village in UP and forced her to undergo an abortion, before bringing her back to Vasai. In December 2014, when he tried to rape the eldest daughter, aged 17, she resisted and complained to her mother. The mother filed a complaint with the Waliv police and the man was arrested. He was since then lodged in jail as he was denied bail, said Khandangale.
“We examined five witnesses in the case and the Vasai court relied on the strong evidence and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs17,000. The mother, who is the complainant in the case, did not turn up at the court during the trial, hence we relied on the statements of the two survivors and medical evidence,” Khandangale said.
