Marathas to support Muslim protest in Mumbra today

Taking a cue from the Maratha protests across the state for reservation, Muslim Kranti Morcha has been planned from Darul Falah Masjid to Mumbra Station

The Maratha community plans to support the silent protest by Muslims in Mumbra on Thursday, while the Muslims will support the Maratha protest in Thane, said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Jitendra Awhad in Thane on Wednesday.

Taking a cue from the Maratha protests across the state for reservation, Muslim Kranti Morcha has been planned from Darul Falah Masjid to Mumbra Station. While the Maratha, OBC and Kshatriya communities will support the march on Thursday, Muslims will provide water to the protesters during the Maratha silent protest on October 16, Awhad said.

“In the past few days, the Maratha community has been silently protesting for reservation. They are not making remarks against the Dalits or the OBC. They are not against the Atrocity Act, but only want to end its misuse. But Jankar’s comment that Dalits and OBCs are scared after the Maratha protest is baseless,” Awhad said.

“The Maratha community wants reservation without affecting the reservation of the OBC community. People should stop their attempts to create a rift between these communities,” he said.

He also lashed out at MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who said reservation should be on economic status. “Raj should not comment on topics he knows nothing about,” he said.
