Mumbai cops felicitate honest auto driver for returning laptop, bank keys
Mumbai city news: Govandi cops were searching for Ashutosh Shukla, after securing his vehicle registration details, when he walked into the police station and handed over the bag on Saturday
An auto-rickshaw driver was felicitated on Saturday by the Govandi police for returning a bag — containing a laptop and bank keys — he found in his auto on Friday afternoon. Ashutosh Shukla, a Ghatkopar resident, approached the police while they were searching for him after Jagannath Ramnan, a senior bank official in Nerul, registered a police complaint about his missing bag.

Police officers said Ramnan hired a rickshaw from Andheri around 3pm for Punjabwadi in Govandi on Friday and forgot his bag in the auto. Upon realising it, he approached the Govandi police. After scrutinising CCTV footages, the police managed to secure registration details of the auto Ramnan had taken.
“Surprisingly, a day after Ramnan forgot his bag in an auto, its driver came to us and returned it. Ramnan was contacted and asked to visit the police station to identify the bag,” said an officer.
Meanwhile, Deputy commissioner of police (zone 6) Shahji Umap felicitated Shukla for his honesty.
