The Juhu police on Sunday booked a 28-year-old man for allegedly smashing a beer bottle on the head of a 26-year-old man for talking to his female friend at a hotel in Juhu.

According to the police, the incident took place around 4am when Malad resident Hardik Bora, 26, was partying with his friends. The accused, identified Farhan Mandahi, 28, came to the hotel with a woman. He got angry when the woman started talking to Bora, said police.

This led to a heated argument between the victim and the accused, which soon escalated into a fight. Mandahi hit the victim on his head with a beer bottle, said police. The staffers then alerted the Juhu police.

The police said that the complainant has been treated for his injuries and has been discharged from the hospital. Mandahi is yet to be arrested.

The police have filed an FIR under section 326 (causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused.
