Idnani alleged opposition candidate Manoj Laasi from team Omie Kalani, which is backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had a role in the attack.

“He, along with other 8 people, vandalised our vehicle in front of policemen. We have lodged a complaint,” said Jeevan Idnani, Asha Idnani’s husband.

Idnani and Kalani both have had several tiffs over sanctioning projects in Ulhasnagar.

In 2013 , former MLA MLA Pappu Kalani, father of Omie Kalani, got into a controversy with Idnani for beating up her husband in the presence of political leaders.

After the incident, Asha Idnani had sought police protection. She had also lodged a complaint at Vitthalwadi police station.

Denying his involvement in the act, Omie Kalani said , “They are doing it for cheap publicity. We believe in competition.”
