Prabhadevi bizman cheated of ₹1.17cr by Delhi company

The Dadar police said the complainant, Sandeep Podar, who has a firm in Gammon House, Prabhadevi, had ordered 1,200 multi-wall polycarbonate sheets from the Delhi-based company in September 2017 and paid ₹1.48 crore in advance.

A 29-year-old businessman from the city was cheated of ₹1.17 crore by a Delhi-based firm between September 2017 and May 2019.

The Dadar police said the complainant, Sandeep Podar, who has a firm in Gammon House, Prabhadevi, had ordered 1,200 multi-wall polycarbonate sheets from the Delhi-based company in September 2017 and paid ₹1.48 crore in advance. However, the firm only supplied 200 sheets worth ₹30 lakh, but did not deliver the remaining sheets, causing the businessman losses of ₹1.17 crore. When Podar demanded his cash back, the firm sent him a cheque, which bounced.

After following up with them for more than a year, Podar approached the Dadar police around a month ago, and a case was registered against the Delhi company on May 18 under sections 409 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. “We have registered a case and have sent an email to the Delhi-based company, asking for an explanation. We will arrest them if they fail to explain why they haven’t returned the complainant’s money,” said an officer.
