The father of the child was hospitalised by a passerby. The police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO). The police said the child. who is a class 2 student. told his parents that the new bus driver touched him inappropriately every day, which made him uncomfortable.

“Parents of the child thought that the bus driver might be making fun of the child. However, when the child returned home a couple of days ago and asked his father to drop him to school, his father got angry and confronted the accused – Ravi Lavate, 20,”, said a police officer from the Badlapur (East) police station.

On confronting him, Lavate got angry and called his friends who beat up the man. “There were more than five people who beat up the boy’s father and fled from the spot”, said the officer.
