Sheena Bora murder case: Peter allowed to undergo treatment at private hospital

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Monday allowed Peter Mukerjea, accused for his alleged involvement in the Sheena Bora murder case, to be treated for his heart ailment, at a private hospital under supervision of a police escort.

On Saturday evening, Peter was taken to Sir JJ Hospital after he complained of chest pain. The doctors have said that Peter had a mild heart attack and his condition is now stable.

Peter’s lawyers Amit Ghag and Shushmitha Sheringar moved a plea that Peter be allowed to undergo treatment at a private hospital. They contended that his health was critical, as he has been diagnosed with blockages in three main arteries.

The prosecution objected to the plea, arguing that JJ Hospital has some of the most proficient doctors and Peter would receive the best treatment.

The court requested the hospital for a report on Peter’s health. The court was informed that Peter was diagnosed with four blockages and his condition was stable. The doctor, on consulting with his senior, told the court that all necessary tests, including the angiography, had been conducted.

Peter has been advised to opt for an angioplasty or a bypass surgery as soon as possible, the doctor said, adding that all treatment options are available at Sir JJ Hospital.
