A ticket examiner saved the life of a passenger, Sandeep Sonar, 20, on board the Pushpak Express, at Kalyan station.

48-year-old Sashikant Chavan, chief ticket inspector, Central Railway, noticed the passenger leaning out of the train while it was departing from the station and grabbed him by the collar.
The incident took place at around 9.30am on Friday at platform 4, when Chavan had alighted the Pushpak Express after duty.
“After getting down at Kalyan station, I was standing facing the train while having a conversation with my colleague. When the train started moving, I noticed the passenger hanging on to the door and leaning towards the platform. He could have fallen in the gap between the train and the platform, so I immediately ran towards him and pulled him on to the platform,” said Chavan.
The incident has been captured on the CCTV camera installed at the platform
Chavan, a resident of Ambernath, has been working for the Central Railway for 26 years.
“Shashikant Chavan’s presence of mind has made us proud of having such railwaymen. He will be suitably rewarded,” said Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relation Officer, Central Railway.
