Two killed near Mumbai after tree struck by lightning falls on them
Mumbai city news: The deceased have been identified as Budhaji Ladku Agivle, 50, Sarikha Jayram Choudhary, 14. Meanwhile, Budhaji’s wife Indira, 47, received 25% burn injuries.
A man and a minor girl died while a woman was injured when a tree that they were standing under was struck by lightning in Shahpur on Thursday.

This is the second such incident in 10 days.
The deceased have been identified as Budhaji Ladku Agivle, 50, Sarikha Jayram Choudhary, 14. Meanwhile, Budhaji’s wife Indira, 47, received 25% burn injuries.
The couple and their relative Sarikha had gone to a field in the evening and it started raining heavily when they were on their way back. “They took shelter beneath a tree at Bhojpada village in Shahpur to avoid getting wet. But around 5pm a lightning struck the tree. The impact of the shock threw the woman aside and charred the others,” said an officer from Shahpur police station.
“The passersby informed us about the incident and we rushed the three of them to a nearby hospital but Budhaji and Sarikha were declared dead.
This is the second such incident in Thane rural area in the past 10 days. Earlier, two teenage boys and two animals were killed while two women were grievously injured by a lightning at Murbad area.
An accidental death report has been filed in the case.
