The downpour since last night caused the tracks between Gholwad and Dahanu stations to go under water and affected outstation trains. Suburban services in the peak morning rush are likely to get disrupted on Wednesday .
According to railway sources, the submerged tracks at Banganga (Kurgaon), Betegaon, Kolgaon and Paneri villages in Palghar caused all long-distance trains running at least two to three hours late.
Western railway has cancelled all four locals to and from Dahanu along with theVirar-Surat shuttle, Dahanu-Panvel shuttle and Dahanu-Virar shuttle. According to sources, disrupted train movement also likely to delay suburban services by 10-15 minutes during peak hours.
For the convenience of commuters, Western railway has imposed stoppages to some trains arriving to Mumbai, at stations between Dahanu and Virar. “@WesternRly Mail Express trains to Mumbai Central/ Bandra in morning delayed by an hour- water on tracks due to heavy rains @Dahanu,” tweeted Mukul Jain, divisional railway manager of Western Railway.
