Youngster suffers heart attack mid-traffic, Kalwa cop saves the day

Nikhil Tambole was rushed to Jupiter Hospital after complaining of chest pains

The life of a 23-year-old man, who suffered a heart attack on Wednesday afternoon while driving a four-wheeler near Kharegaon toll naka in Kalwa, was saved by a 35-year-old traffic constable. The man, Nikhil Tambole, was rushed to Jupiter Hospital in time and his condition is now stable.

The traffic constable Pandurang Munde was felicitated by Amit Kale, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), Thane, and given a letter of appreciation. Tambole, who was travelling from Padgha area to Thane with his father, abruptly stopped their vehicle and begin to rub his chest. Tambole’s father, who got worried, then alerted Munde who was on duty at the Kalwa unit.

“A man came running towards me and told me about the incident. I ran to the spot and managed to find someone who could drive a four-wheeler. I placed Tambole on the back seat and asked the other driver to take us to Jupiter Hospital. He was admitted immediately,” said Munde.

“We created awareness among our policemen to be more vigil and be available to citizens at all times in all circumstances. We are proud of Munde for his act of bravery. Munde was quick to arrange another driver and take Tambole to the hospital in time,” said Kale.
