MUMBAI: A 57-year-old assistant sub-inspector with the Bhandup police died of a brain stroke on Sunday. Yashwant Gulabrao Tekvade had suffered a stroke on duty during Ganeshotsav on September 9. While the Bhandup police said he was on day duty, a press note issued by police control room claimed he was on a night duty when he felt dizzy and collapsed. Tekvade was admitted to Mulund General Hospital. He was then shifted to Fortis Hospital. He passed away in the ICU around 8.50 am. His body has been sent to his hometown in Pune for last rites.
