Four injured as dumper falls from Mankhurd bridge
MUMBAI: Four people, including two minors, were injured after a mud-carrying dumper fell on huts in a slum from a bridge on the Sion-Panvel highway at Mankhurd on Saturday.
The police said that the incident took place at around 3am on Saturday when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The driver of the dumper and a cleaner were among the injured. According to police officials, the two minors have been identified as Tarhana Raviprakash Pathari, 10, and Roxy Pathari, 9, who lived in the slum at Jayhind Nagar. While Tarhana sustained bruises on the legs Roxy suffered head injury.
The driver, Sanjay Paswan ,33, and the cleaner Dharmendra Prajapati, 30, are recuperating from their injuries and have been admitted to Rajawadi hospital.
An officer from Mankhurd police station said, “The dumper was heading towards Vashi and was overloaded with mud. However, the driver could couldn’t control the speeding vehicle while turning it on the bridge. So the vehicle overturned and fell down.”
Police officials have booked the driver for negligent driving and will arrest him after he gets discharged from the hospital.
