MUMBAI: The VB Nagar police arrested a 25-year-old jilted lover for stabbing his girlfriend to death with a scissor recently.

The police said the accused, Irfan alias Sameer Mohammad Umar Varsi, told investigators that the scissor fell on her while she was asleep on Saturday around 4pm.
According to the police, Varsi owns a vehicle seat cover shop in Kurla and the deceased, Rekha Mangwana, 25, worked with him.
They got to know each other through the business and eventually got into a relationship. But their families were against them getting married. The girl then decided to marry someone of her parent’s choice, which triggered the attack.
Senior inspector Bharat Bhoite from VB Nagar police station said, “Varsi is already married and has a three-year-old son with his former wife. They had been living separately for the past three years. But a month ago Varsi’s wife sent him a picture of their son, which Mangwana noticed. That made her think that Varsi would never marry her.” The girl agreed to marry the person of her parent’s choice and the wedding was fixed. When the accused learnt about this, he called her to his workshop on Saturday.
“As soon as she came to the workshop, the couple had a heated argument. He then stabbed Mangwana on her chest with a scissor,” Bhoite said.
Then, he took her to Kohinoor hospital where she was declared dead because of punctured lung.
An officer from VB Nagar police station said, “Varsi said the scissor fell on her but the stab injury was very deep. So deep that it led to her death. Varsi was taken into custody and was arrested during interrogation.”
He has been remanded in police custody.
