MUMBAI: The law aspirants from the state were once again left fuming. They were already disappointed by the delay in admissions, after the state failed to upload the first list of seat allotments till Monday night.

As per its own schedule, the state was supposed to upload the list at 5pm on Monday, but decided to postpone it till 9pm. However, at the time of going to press there was no sign of the list on the admission website.

There was no response from BCI and state officials when HT contacted in the evening.

“We don’t know whether the list of allotments would be published. If they don’t do it today (Monday), the students will be in trouble,” said Shubham Kulkarni, an aspirant.

The students had been visiting the admission website since Monday evening with the hope of finding the list, but to no avail. “I have been constantly checking the website since 5pm, but the list wasn’t uploaded,” said Rhea Gupta.

The state’s first-ever attempt to conduct admissions to law colleges through a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) has met with several roadblocks, and caused weeks of delay, leaving the aspirants confused and anxious.

The fact that many colleges on offer are still to receive an approval from Bar Council of India (BCI) — the apex regulating body for legal education in the country — has added to the uncertainty. Earlier in the day, an official from CET Cell said the state officials met with BCI officials to figure out if the ‘unapproved’ colleges could be allotted to students.
