The police said that the NMMC had issued the car to Jaywant Sutar, leader of the house, a few years ago. The arrested accused, Abhijeet Umbarkar, worked on a contract basis for Sutar. Umbarkar was alone in the car when the accident took place, a senior police officer said.

The victim has been identified as Adil Mukadam, 27, a resident of Seawoods. He was working in a hardware store in Dubai and had come home for three months. Hari Yadav, 25, who works in a garage in the same area, was injured in the incident.
