Senior police inspector Subhash Khanvilkar of Oshiwara police station refused to comment on the issue. “Each FIR is being investigated by an inspector, which is usually done in cases of a serious nature,” said an official requesting anonymity.
The official said no panchnama has been conducted. He added that they could not serve notices to the accused as officials and the police are busy preparing for the Ganeshotsav bandobast.
The notices need to be served so the accused can record their statements. Police officials said there is no rush to arrest the accused as the act under which they have been booked falls under ‘minor acts’. According to the apex court guidelines, there need not be a rush to arrest them.
