On the agenda during this festival are a special concert by tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, a fashion show by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and an auction of paintings by 60 master artists, including SH Raza, MF Husain, Akbar Padamsee, Krishen Khanna, KH Ara and NS Bendre.
Part of the funds collected from the sale of tickets and the art auction will be used to renovate the gallery and upgrade infrastructure such as lighting in the six art-display areas, said gallery chairman Adi Jehangir.
“Jehangir is known for being a gallery that attracts people from all walks of life,” he added.
“Hence, apart from organising ticketed, fund-raising events, the gallery will also hold a series of free art workshops and lectures at the gallery, which will be open to all.”
The Zakir Hussain concert will be held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the fashion show on the lawns of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum and the auction at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel.
