16,000 vacant management seats

There are more than 16,000 management seats vacant in the state even after the final round of admission ended on Friday. Last year there were 9,000 vacant seats after the admission process.

While seats in coveted colleges in Pune and Mumbai are filled, colleges in smaller cities such as Nagpur and Nanded still have vacancies. Newer institutes with a-yet not yet established a good reputation also have vacancies. “The faith in the employability value of a management degree has reduced Only the coveted intuitions are in demand mainly because of their good placements,” said MA Khan, director, Sydenham Institute of Management. “Another reason is the increased number of seats in existing institution and new institutions.”

There are 385 institutes in the state offering more than 40,000 seats this year. Last year there were 366 institutes with 38,000 seats.

Now, colleges will have to fill the vacancies at the institute level.
