After successfully conducting three lottery draws for low-cost residential flats, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has put up 168 commercial shops for auction.
The shops are located in areas such as Pratiksha Nagar at Sion, Sahakar Nagar at Chembur, Shastri Nagar at Goregaon, Ashokvan at Dahisar and Malvani at Malad. The rates range from Rs 5.28 lakh for a 65 sq ft area shop to Rs 23 lakh for a 286 sq ft shop at Chandivli, Andheri (East).
Of the 168 shops, 99 are available at Pratiksha Nagar, where MHADA has constructed a large number of buildings.Majority of the shops were built in the ground floors of the residential buildings.Amarjeet Singh Manhas, chairman, MHADA (Mumbai Board), said the board wants to provide self-employment opportunities to citizens.
“Nowadays it is virtually impossible to buy a shop in the city giving the skyrocketing realty rates. Hence, we have fixed a low cost for our shops,” said Manhas.
Forms for the shops are available at the MHADA’s Bandra headquarters until Saturday.
The last date for filling up the form is July 6.
The shops would be allotted on basis of the highest amount filed by the applicant.
