An officer from Tilak Nagar police station, who did not wish to be named, said, “On February 18, two people who came to the city from Kolkata got into the taxi operated by Sangolkar and Kolekar. One of them drove the vehicle, while the other acted as the cleaner. They stopped the vehicle mid-day on pretext of taking on two more passengers. The four men ganged up against the two passengers near Belapur station and robbed them of Rs5,700.”

Following the incident, the two men approached the Belapur police station and the case was then transferred to the Tilak Nagar police station. Assistant police inspector Avinash Pore, along with his detection staff, was handed over the case. Sangolkar and Kolekar were arrested outside LTT on Wednesday.
